The Southern Traverse

6 Days | 125 Miles | Iceland’s South Coast

This isn’t a race. It’s a shared adventure for runners.

You’ll cover 125 miles / 200 km of Iceland’s most iconic terrain - from volcanic deserts to black beaches, canyons, and waterfalls - with a crew of runners who are all in it together. Some run every mile, some hike sections, some mix it up. The goal? Finish the journey and experience the wild.

What’s the Vibe?

This is a challenging but community-driven stage event. No chip timing. No podiums. Just big miles, massive views, and the kind of camaraderie you can only find on the trail. You’ll push hard during the day and relax each evening with food, stories, and recovery time in stunning remote locations.

Think:

- Sunrise starts and glacier-side trails

- Support vehicles with snacks, tunes, and encouragement

- Post-run meals, cold dips, and maybe even a hot spring

- 20 like-minded adventurers doing something unforgettable

3

Daily Format

Each day is split into 3 stages with aid every 6-8mi. / 10-12k. You'll stop for food, refuel, recover, and head back out. Distances are tough but achievable with good prep. There are no cut-off times. We support you every step of the way.

7

Who’s This For?

Runners who want something more meaningful than a timed race. You should be comfortable with back-to-back long days and open to the unpredictability of Icelandic weather. This isn’t easy - but it’s absolutely doable.

Whether you’re chasing your first ultra or just want to cover serious ground in an epic place, you’ll fit right in.

8

What’s Iceland Like?

Late August is one of the best times of year to be running in Iceland. You’ll get long daylight hours with just enough nightfall to catch the northern lights as we camp at one of the top trails in the world. We will have cool temps (10–16°C), more stable weather, and (usually) the clearest views of the country’s most iconic landscapes - glaciers, black sand beaches, mossy lava fields, and waterfalls at full force.
